Category D1 (Minibus)
A week course costs just £795 (including practical test fee).
The test vehicle requirements are as follows:
- MAM of at least 4 Tonnes.
- Minimum 4 metres in length.
- 9 – 16 Passenger Seats.
- ABS.
- A Tachograph.
The procedure to obtain the Category C+E Licence is as follows:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Have a medical from a local doctor who will complete Form D4 (about £30.00 which we organise).
- Send off Form D4 together with Form D2 to DVLA to get provisional entitlement to learn how to drive a 7.5 Tonne lorry (free of charge).
- Apply for PCV theory test (cost £50.00 which we organise).
The Theory Test comprises of multiple choice questions and answers. The pass mark for this is 85 out of 100. You will also sit a hazard perception test and the pass mark for this 67 out of 100.
- Attend a training course and take the practical test at the end of it. The training course comprises of 4 days training on a 1 to 1 ratio starting at 9am and finishing at about 2pm. The test will be on day 5. If possible the training should run on consecutive days (the cost of this course inclusive of the practical test fee is £795.00 which we organise).
The Practical Test comprises of:
- Answering 5 simple questions on basic vehicle checks.
- Reversing in to a marked bay.
- Carrying out a controlled stop.
- Driving on urban, rural and motorway roads for approximately 60 minutes.
