How To Move A Car Slowly

Clutch Control - This is a very useful skill to learn. It will enable you to move the car at very slow speeds. Master this skill and for example, you will be able to manoeuvre the car in tight spaces, edge forward in queues and at junctions and carry out your manoeuvres under control. Prepare the car to move off as usual. When you release the handbrake, move your clutch pedal up a 'touch' - the width of a pound coin. The car will start to move very slowly. If the car picks up too much speed dip the clutch pedal down a 'touch' - the width of a pound coin. This will slow the car down. Repeat this movement on the clutch pedal until you have finished manoeuvring.

To Recap

1. POM - PREPARE: Prepare to move off as you would do normally. The most important thing to remember is to get the car moving at a very slow speed. Move the clutch pedal up the width of a pound coin. To slow it down, move the clutch pedal down the width of a pound coin. This is a repeated movement on the clutch pedal.
